The defense attorney for the former University of Southern California campus gynecologist accused of sexual assault says none of the alleged abuse happened and it’s telling that despite hundreds of complaints, the doctor is only charged in 16 cases.
Lawyer Andrew Flier says 72-year-old Dr. George Tyndall is innocent of the charges, which were filed last week after a yearlong investigation. He entered a not-guilty plea for his client Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Tyndall is due back in court Wednesday for a bail review hearing.
Authorities say they may file additional charges as they continue to talk to former patients. More than 700 women have filed lawsuits in state court against the doctor and USC. A separate $215 million federal class-action settlement is in the works.
