The American Red Cross of Santa Monica is offering free, one-hour cardiopulmonary resuscitation classes and automated external defibrillator classes on Saturday.
Classes are scheduled for 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Ken Edwards Center on 1527 Fourth St.
Though attendees will not receive certification for participating in these classes, they will learn how to act when a life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergency presents itself, according to a statement released Thursday.
Seating is limited. Each class can only fit 20 to 25 people, said American Red Cross spokesman Bill Bauer.
Registering for the class in advance is recommended. To register, or for more information, call (310) 394-3773 during weekday business hours or 800-627-7000 and mention “CPR Saturday.”
Individuals are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled class.
The Red Cross offers three-hour CPR certification classes nearly every day of the year, Bauer said. For more information on a certification class, call (310) 394-3773.
