The Samohi Vikings gave its home faithful another chance to cheer Tuesday, taking down the Pacifica Tritons 4-0 to advance to the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section Division V championship contest.
The Vikings defended home turf against the Tritons early, bringing in three runs in the second inning before a Jackson Myrow home run in the fourth sent Samohi fans into a tremendous roar.
The Myrow blast was just the fourth home run hit by the Vikings this season, two of those coming from the junior slugger. On the mound, junior Eddie Jennings pitched a complete game shutout, picking up the win in his second postseason outing.
The Vikings (21-7) will face the Chino Hills Huskies (20-8-2) in the Division V championship Friday at 4pm at Lake Elsinore Storm Stadium. The Huskies have outscored opponents 21-2 in the Division V bracket, defeating Chino 2-0 in the semifinals.
