Santa Monica Daily Press Publisher Ross Furukawa conducts a one on one conversation with Bobby Shriver in anticipation of the upcoming election for Los Angeles County Supervisor.
Bobby Shriverbelieves in public transit and points out "the Orange Line is at capacity. We've proved in LA that we ride transit, now we have to build it." He favors the proposed Purple Line, just funded for $2 billion from Washington, and thinks the BBB model of letting college students ride free should be implemented. He says he recognizes the tremendous problem of homelessness, particularly among veterans. "We still have the largest population of homeless vets in the country. One of the most important things government agencies can do is to build housing." He favors finally rehabbing buildings at the sprawling West LA VA, and getting nonprofit agencies involved.
