Although it is a shame that Greg Morena has to resign from the Council in order to conduct his family business appropriately, I understand that motive and thank him for his service. At this painful and critical time in our city’s and nation’s history, it is imperative that the Council replace Greg with another person of color. There are so many dedicated and talented community leaders in Santa Monica’s African-American community. I would strongly suggest that they be the first, and perhaps only, potential candidates who should be considered by the Council.
