I believe Mr. Barber errs in the original premise on which his arguments are based ("Godless Democrats," Your Column Here, Sept. 11). In a country whose founding principles prohibit establishing a religion, surely a political party should concern itself with policy, and not deities. Far from being godless, the Democratic platform, by providing for those in need, shows itself more closely aligned with the precepts of Christianity than do others who claim the label but practice greed and hatred.
For what it's worth, I just re-read the Constitution and did not see the word "God" in it.
