Assault weapons have no place on our streets. There can be no reason to allow their sale or possession. We are all too aware of the carnage that they can cause.
Sadly, there are many people in today's world who fail to respect or value human life, and there are too many mentally ill or and/or alienated individuals who seek to express themselves with a weapon. The assault weapon provides them with a personal weapon of mass destruction that leaves intended victims with little chance of survival.
It is time to challenge those who hide behind our constitution's right to bear arms as an excuse to allow assault weapons on our streets. These weapons must be banned now.
