Ref: your article about an elderly woman injured by tripping over a scooter.
I visited Santa Monica earlier this year and was appalled at the almost lawless attitude towards scooters, and sadly they are now appearing in Auckland, New Zealand, with the same problems. High speed on the sidewalks, total disregard of red traffic and pedestrian lights, and abandoned everywhere.
They have wheels, so for a start get them off the sidewalks and on to the road, if that is more dangerous for the riders, tough, their choice.
Preferably ban them entirely from the face of the Earth, they are a dangerous menace for both riders and pedestrians.
All strength to the woman who is suing Santa Monica council, I hope she wins, big time.
