City Hall has unveiled a new Web site aimed at fostering a greater understanding of what it means to live a sustainable lifestyle. The Web site, www.sustainablesm.org, is the latest creation from the Office of Sustainability and the Environment. It will provide information on important city services, programs, and resources for individuals and groups to network, link to news, workshops, events and local organizations.
The Web site can put the nature lover or parent in touch with outdoor activities and local field trip opportunities. The Web site links to the Santa Monica Public Library’s growing Sustainable Santa Monica Collection, a one-stop shop for all the latest books and resources available at the LEED Gold Main Branch in Downtown.
Additionally, the Green Building Program (smgreen.org) has been seamlessly incorporated along with all the other subjects that include: Buying green, energy/solar, water, landscape, urban runoff, hazardous materials, environmental education, business resources, and the list goes on. One can visit the Green Office Buying Guide for a virtual tour of the ideal office with tips and specifications for all those interested in putting their dollars to work toward office greening.
And, the Sustainable City Progress Report is a section that posts all the most current data on how the community is on the conservation front.
