A man was decapitated after hanging himself from the seventh-floor of Parking Structure 4 in Downtown Santa Monica Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Santa Monica Police Department, the victim used a rope to hang himself from the east side of the structure (facing the alley) on the 1300 block of 2nd Street. Officers issued an alert asking the public to stay out of the area while they investigated but Lt. Saul Rodriguez said there was no sign of foul play. The alley was closed to all traffic at both ends of the block.
The suicide came just minutes after emergency responders cleared an incident nearby on the 1500 block of 5th Street. In that case, a man climbed a tree and caused the street to be closed for several hours.
