Friday, Feb. 12, at 8:10 p.m.
Officers were patrolling the 600 block of Ocean Park Boulevard when they observed a bicyclist riding without a headlamp, a vehicle code violation. During the stop, officers smelled the aroma of marijuana. The officers conducted a subsequent search finding concentrated cannabis. The suspect said that he was smoking the pot in observance of a holiday he called “Chiva.” The suspect was identified as Joshua Davis, 29, of Santa Monica. He was charged with possession of marijuana and riding without a headlamp. His bail was set at $10,000.
Saturday, Feb. 13, at 11:41 p.m.
Santa Monica police officers responded to the 1200 block of Lincoln Boulevard —American Motel — regarding a female yelling in the parking lot. Upon arrival, officers heard a male and female arguing. Officers recognized the male as an employee and the female from past encounters. Investigation revealed that the two were arguing over alleged property left at the motel. As officers talked to the victim, they observed that she had visible injuries. Further investigation revealed that the female went to the suspect’s house the night before. The suspect and female started arguing, which resulted in the suspect grabbing the female’s throat. The suspect and female fell to the ground, resulting in the suspect letting go of his grasp. The suspect then slammed the victim’s head against an object. The female was eventually able to get away. Officers went to the suspect’s location and arrested him for assault with a deadly weapon. The suspect was identified as Arthur Crout, 19, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $30,000.
Friday, Feb. 12, at 10:40 p.m.
Officers were patrolling the 800 block of Broadway when they observed a vehicle speeding. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. When the police pulled the car over they believed that the suspect was driving while impaired. Field sobriety tests revealed that the suspect appeared to be intoxicated. The suspect was identified as Ryan Slominsky, 28, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $25,000.
Thursday, Feb. 11, at 9:30 p.m.
Officers were patrolling the 2500 block of Lincoln Boulevard when they observed a bicyclist riding on the sidewalk without a headlamp, a vehicle code violation. During the stop, the bicyclist appeared to be nervous, giving officers the feeling that he was concealing something. Officers were granted the consent to search the suspect, during which they found a small amount of meth and a pipe to smoke it. The suspect was identified as Peter Palfreyman, 50, of Eagle Point, Ore. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and riding without a headlamp. His bail was set at $10,000.
Monday, Feb. 8, at 6:25 p.m.
Officers were patrolling the area of Third Street and Wilshire Boulevard when they heard an individual yelling at passersby. As officers approached the suspect, he appeared very intoxicated. The suspect was arrested for public intoxication. During the pre-booking search, officers located an Apple iPhone and ear phones. The suspect stated he found the phone earlier. The suspect was identified as David Walters, 44, a transient. He was booked for possession of stolen property. His bail was set at $20,000.
Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 1:38 p.m.
Officers responded to the 2500 block of Santa Monica Boulevard — CVS — regarding a suspect brandishing a knife. Upon arrival, officers were advised by a male victim and witness that the suspect had yelled at the victim to get his attention. The victim, and his small son, ran toward the store fearing that the suspect wanted to potentially rob him. The suspect then followed the victim as he attempted to call the police. Once officers arrived, they located the suspect a short distance away where they arrested him. He was charged with attempted robbery and a probation violation. He was identified as Derrick Barney, 22, of Los Angeles. His bail was set at $50,000.
