Clinic announced
The Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital announced it would open a children’s clinic in Santa Monica in Spring of this year.
The new clinic, funded by Renee and Meyer Luskin, will help alleviate the caseload that is too big for the current facilities and staff, resulting in shorter wait times for patients in need of care.
“Care providers are having difficulty finding someone to refer patients to,” said Dr. Anthony Scaduto, chief of pediatric orthopaedics at Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital.
The clinic will have eight exam rooms and accept patients five days a week with inpatient care facilities open across the street. The clinic will merge with the new Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center & Orthopaedic Hospital when that facility opens in 2011.
Orthopaedic specialists deal with two main areas, Scaduto said, trauma and elective reconstruction. The most common kind of injury is bone fractures, but the clinic will also treat musculoskeletal disorders such as cerebral palsy or scoliosis.
