Sunday, Jan. 10, at 5:43 p.m.,
Santa Monica police officers responded to the 300 block of Colorado Avenue — Sears — regarding a theft suspect in custody. When officers arrived, they made contact with store security who said they observed a man walk into the store, remove a plastic bag from his waistband and place boxes of perfume inside it. The suspect then left the store, failing to pay for the items. Security guards stopped the suspect outside of the business and placed him under citizen’s arrest. Officers took the suspect into custody and he was booked for burglary and a parole violation. He was not eligible for bail. The suspect was identified as Anthony Bomer, 46, a transient.
Sunday, Jan. 10, at 5:55 p.m.,
Officers on routine patrol in the area of Yorkshire Avenue and Pico Boulevard saw a man who they knew to be on probation. When officers tried to make contact with the man, he allegedly started running. Officers saw the man run into a residence in the 2900 block of Pico Boulevard. When the suspect left the residence, he was wearing a new outfit. Officers felt the man was under the influence of some controlled substance, possibly a stimulant. Officers made contact and placed the suspect under arrest for being under the influence and a probation violation. He was identified as Johnny Jimenez, 20, of Los Angeles. His bail was set at $10,000.
Saturday, Jan. 9, at 2:26 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 2700 block of Pico Boulevard regarding a fight in progress. When officers arrived, they made contact with the alleged victim who said that the suspect was upset over her having two parking spots. The suspect allegedly threatened the woman by swinging a metal bar at her. The suspect struck the victim in the arm, police said. Officers located the suspect a short distance away. Officers placed her under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon and for making criminal threats. The suspect was identified as Sherry Bell, 54, of Santa Monica. Her bail was set at $50,000.
Friday, Jan. 8, at 1:15 p.m.,
Officers responded to a local emergency room regarding an assault at the hospital. When officers arrived, they made contact with the alleged victim who told officers that she went to an apartment in the 800 block of Cedar Avenue with a friend. The victim’s friend had to leave and left her there with a resident in the apartment. The resident allegedly became violent and started kicking the woman and hitting her in the head. The victim ran out of the apartment and went to the hospital. Officers went to the apartment and made contact with the suspect, who had a no-bail warrant for his arrest. Officers placed him in custody. Officers searched the suspect and found drug paraphernalia, police said. The suspect was booked for the warrant and assault with a deadly weapon. He was identified as Michael Moch, 40, of Santa Monica. He was not eligible for bail.
Friday, Jan. 8, at 3:55 p.m.,
Officers were conducting a periodic check on a property in the 1800 block of 16th Street to see if people were loitering. The owner requested the check ups, police said. When officers arrived, they located a man who was extremely intoxicated and in possession of an open container of alcohol. Officers also found another individual who was under the influence and in possession of marijuana. One suspect, Jesus Martinez, 27, of Canyon Country, was arrested for public intoxication, a probation violation and possession of an open container. His bail was set at $10,000. The other suspect, Mark Alvarado, 19, of Santa Monica, was arrested for marijuana possession. His bail was set at $75.
Tuesday, Jan. 5, at 4:45 p.m.,
Officers responded to the area of 2400 Santa Monica Boulevard regarding an attempted strong arm robbery. When officers arrived, they made contact with the victim who said the suspect accused him of causing damage to his vehicle. The suspect allegedly demanded $200 in cash. The suspect tried to remove the victim’s wallet from the rear of his pants. The suspect and the victim struggled, causing the victim to fall to the ground, police said. As a person tried to assist the victim, the suspect left the location. A witness saw the suspect enter a vehicle and drive off. The witness was able to copy the license plate number. Officers used the information to track down the suspect at his home. Officers placed the suspect under arrest for attempted robbery. The suspect was identified as Alex Tronik, 24, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $50,000.
Tuesday, Jan. 5, at 12:05 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 300 block of Arizona Avenue regarding a suspect attempting to damage a parking meter. Witnesses told the officers that they saw the suspect place a shiny object into the coin slot of the parking meter. When contacted by city staff about the meter, the suspect allegedly said he did not have change for the meter and was using a paper clip to jam the meter. The suspect was placed under arrest for vandalism, a probation violation and warrants. He was identified as Adrian Torres, 28, of Torrance. His bail was set at $26,966.
Wednesday, Dec. 30, at 7:33 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 300 block of Colorado Avenue — Sears — regarding a theft suspect in custody. Upon arrival, officers were advised by store security that the suspect entered the store and placed several items in his pant pockets and left the store without paying for the items. The items included watches and a MP3 player. Security stopped the suspect once he was outside the store and detained him until police arrived. When security guards approached the suspect, he allegedly fought with them. Officers placed the suspect under arrest for robbery and warrants. He was identified as Brian Karsten, 40, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $76,000.
