Incident of the day
On March 5 at approximately 3:05 p.m., a Santa Monica resident returned to his home and noticed several of his valuables were piled into a green wagon that was outside his house, along with his friend's bicycle and violin.
When the resident tried to open his front door, he found it was blocked by a piece of furniture inside. The resident forced the door open and found a female suspect in his dining room.
When the resident asked the suspect what she was doing in his home, the suspect replied, "I live here." The suspect later changed her story and said a friend let her stay there.
The resident immediately called 911 and officers arrived within minutes to detain the suspect. She was later booked at Santa Monica Jail for residential burglary but refused to give officers any information about herself other than her name.
The suspect was identified as Amanda Lea Elleif, 34. Bail was set at $50,000.
