Monday, Dec. 27, at 2:40 p.m.,
Santa Monica police officers responded to the 2700 block of 11th Street regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. When officers arrived, they made contact with the victim, who said that while he was in his garage he saw the suspect urinating in the alley. The victim confronted the suspect, who allegedly became upset and followed the victim into his garage. The suspect kicked the victim’s car, creating a dent, police said. The suspect then pushed the victim to the ground, removed a chord from the wall and started choking the victim. The victim’s spouse and neighbor heard the commotion and responded. As they arrived, the suspect ran to his car and fled. Officers located the suspect a short time later at his home. Officers placed the suspect under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism. He was identified as Nicholas Corso, 23, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $30,000.
Sunday, Jan. 2, at 1:16 a.m.,
Officers were patrolling the alley south of the 2300 block of Ocean Park Boulevard when they saw a vehicle with three people inside. Officers were on high alert because of a string of burglaries in the area and chose to make contact with those in the car to see what they were up to. As officers approached, they saw smoke coming from the driver’s side window. The smoke smelled like marijuana, police said. When officers made contact with the three individuals, they found out that one of them was on probation for attempted robbery. Another said he had a “piece” in his pocket. Officers, believing the suspect had a gun, ordered the men out of the car. The “piece” turned out to be a glass pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana. Officers arrested the suspect, Timothy Price, 23, of Paramount, for possession of drug paraphernalia. While at the police station, officers located a small plastic bag containing some white residue. There was not enough of the substance to test and determine if it was some narcotic. Price’s bail was set at $250.
Saturday, Jan. 1, at 7:20 a.m.,
Officers responded to the area of 22nd Street and Delaware Avenue regarding a report of vandalism in progress. When officers arrived, they made contact with the victim who said his mother was walking outside and saw someone break the side mirror of his car. The suspect fled on a bicycle. The victim told officers that this was the fourth time in the last two months that this happened to his car. The victim drove after the suspect and located him a short distance away. When the victim confronted the suspect, the suspect allegedly started acting crazy. The victim left to call police. Prior to leaving though, the victim took a picture of the suspect on his cell phone. Officers located the suspect a short distance away and he was placed under arrest for vandalism. During the booking search, officers said they found two small containers of marijuana. The suspect was booked for vandalism and possession of marijuana. He was identified as Marco Vazquez, 23, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $20,000.
Wednesday, Dec. 29, at 2:30 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1500 block of Sixth Street regarding someone trespassing. When officers arrived, the property manager told them he had a trespass letter on file with the police department and wanted the suspect arrested. He led officers to a stairwell where the suspect was. The manager said he told the suspect on several occasions that she was not allowed to be there. Officers spoke with the suspect, who was sitting at the bottom of a stairwell with all of her belongings around her. She allegedly told officers that someone had let her in to get out of the cold. When asked if she had been told not to trespass, she said yes. Officers placed her under arrest for trespassing. She was identified as Barbara Dunbar, 50, a transient. Her bail was set at $1,000.
Wednesday, Dec. 29, at 1:59 a.m.,
Officers responded to the 2000 block of Ocean Park Boulevard regarding a violation of a restraining order in progress. While on the way, officers recognized the address from a prior incident where the suspect was arrested for being drunk in public and taking someone’s cell phone so they could not call police. When officers arrived, they saw the suspect in the alley. When officers approached, they believed the suspect was heavily intoxicated and placed him under arrest. The victim told officers the suspect came to her home earlier and she called police. He left, but later returned and was banging on her rear door, trying to get in. She again called police. The suspect, who was identified as Enrique Diaz, 23, of Santa Monica, was booked for disobeying a court order, a probation violation and public intoxication. His bail was set at $10,000.
Monday, Dec. 27, at 1:29 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 2900 block of Santa Monica Boulevard regarding a suspect who was in the bathroom possibly using drugs and spreading feces on the walls. When officers arrived, the reporting party pointed to a person sitting inside a car. The person was allegedly the same guy who was in the restroom. Officers approached the vehicle and saw a man and a woman asleep inside. Officers tried waking them. The woman allegedly got up and immediately started to crumple up some aluminum foil that was in her lap. Further investigation revealed the foil had been used to cook up heroin. Officers found additional drug paraphernalia inside the car, including syringes, metal tin, cotton balls with meth and tar heroin residue. Officers placed the two under arrest. Baltazar Moseley, 24, of Lomita was booked for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of substance without a prescription. The second suspect, Savaka Kakinoki, 24, of Tarzana was also booked for the above offenses, as well as a probation violation. No bail amount was provided.
