On December 3 at approximately 7:30 p.m. officers responded to a disturbance call on the 500 block of Colorado. Upon arriving officers spoke with one of the involved parties, later identified as Maria Hennessy, 20, of Santa Monica. In summary, Hennessy told officers that she and her boyfriend, later identified as Cory Johnson, 32, of Santa Monica, were involved in an argument. Hennessy stated that Johnson threw a cigarette box at her head, and stated that after this action she hit Johnson. Hennessy said she attempted multiple times to gain entrance into her residence in order to get away from Johnson, yet she could not get in and Johnson continued to taunt her.
Officers reviewed the surveillance camera system and saw that both Hennessy and Johnson were striking each other. A determination of whom the dominant aggressor was could not be made, so officers arrested both Johnson and Hennessy. Both were booked for domestic battery. Bail was set at $20,000 each.
