AIRPORT COURTHOUSE — A man charged with stabbing his wife to death as she worked at a checkout stand at a Santa Monica Albertson’s plead not guilty Thursday and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail, officials with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said.
Kelvin Green, 52, of Los Angeles, was taken into custody Aug. 22 after investigators determined that he was a suspect in the brutal stabbing of his estranged wife, Christina Talley, 46, who died at a nearby hospital hours after the attack.
Police said Green walked into the grocery store, located at 3105 Wilshire Blvd., and began stabbing Talley, a mother of two children, multiple times in the head and torso. Green then fled southbound on Berkeley Street toward Wilshire.
Along with one count of murder, Green faces one count of assault involving a good Samaritan who tried to intervene but was not injured, authorities said.
A preliminary hearing has been set for Oct. 12 at the Airport Courthouse, Dept. 144
