AIRPORT COURTHOUSE — The estranged husband who allegedly stabbed his wife at a Santa Monica supermarket where she worked as a clerk was charged Friday with murder.
Kelvin Green, 52, is accused in Sunday’s stabbing of his wife, Christina Talley, who died hours after being attacked as she worked at a checkstand at an Albertsons at 3105 Wilshire Blvd.
Green was initially identified as a person of interest by police, then ultimately determined to be a suspect in the 46-year-old woman’s brutal murder, Santa Monica police said.
He was arrested Monday, then taken to a local hospital to be treated for an unspecified illness, said SMPD Sgt. Richard Lewis.
Along with one count of murder, Green faces one count of assault involving a good Samaritan who tried to intervene but was not injured, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Green was ordered to remain in jail in lieu of $1 million bail pending arraignment, which was postponed to Sept. 8.
