The Santa Monica Police Department arrested a man for attempted murder on Nov. 27 but the suspect has been released after the District Attorney asked for additional information before pressing charges.
According to Lt. Candice Cobarrubias, the suspect and victim got into a fight at Perry’s on the 2400 block of Ocean Front Walk at about 6:15 a.m. on April 8.
“The suspect pulled out a knife during the fight and stabbed the victim in the abdomen area several times,” she said. “When officers arrived on scene the suspect and his friends had fled the location. Officers provided medical attention to the victim where he was ultimately transported to the hospital and survived his injuries.”
She said Rimone Hodges, 29, was identified as a suspect and eventually arrested by the Pomona police department.
SMPD presented their case to the District Attorney on Tuesday, Dec. 4 but the D.A. asked for more investigation.
“The individual arrested has been released pending the outcome of the investigative follow-up,” said Cobarrubias.
