Every graduating class has some challenges and congratulating students is expected. However, 2020 has been anything but an ordinary year and it’s not just empty words when we congratulate the class of 2020.
These students have lived through some truly unprecedented times and their senior year just upped the ante with not one, but two world-shaking events. Students were faced with the loss of what should have been their watershed moment of Graduation when the Coronavirus pandemic shuttered local schools. Still they persevered and were adapting when the nation was rocked by a massive protest movement. Local youth put aside their disappointment and in many cases, actually became the leaders calling for change. Santa Monica youth are truly deserving of recognition this year so enjoy this special project produced in partnership with Santa Monica High School and the school district to honestly and whole-heartedly congratulate the Class of 2020.
