The Santa Monica Public Library Teen Advisory Council is presenting "Holiday Crafts and Cookies" for kids ages 4-12 this coming Saturday, December 8, from 2-4 p.m. at the Main Library, 601 Santa Monica Blvd. in Santa Monica. This event is free, open to all, no registration required.
Kids can make a gift or card, create something festive to adorn the library's Teen Lounge, or decorate holiday cookies. If kids bring a new, unwrapped toy or book for the Connections for Children Holiday Angels program, they will receive a gift.
Donations for Holiday Angels are also being collected in the Main Library lobby and at all Santa Monica Public Library branches from Dec. 4-14. Again, we need new, unwrapped toys or books. Young adult (teen) books are particularly in demand.
Connections for Children is a childcare resource and referral agency serving low-income families. Toy and book donations are for its Holiday Angels program, which takes place in mid-December. Parents can "shop" for toys and books for their kids, and volunteers gift-wrap them and entertain the kids while the parents look for gifts. The Teen Council has been working with the Holiday Angels program for the past four years.
