Santa Monica Public Library presents Conspiracy Fiction: Seeking Truth in Paranoia with Gray Basnight on Saturday, February 2, at 2 p.m. in the Main Library’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd.
At this event, author Gray Basnight discusses how the world in which we live “is so complicated and confusing that suspicion of conspiracy is not only reasonable, it’s healthy.” Gray also reads from Flight of the Fox, a gripping political thriller. The novel draws from the 20th Century fiction warning bells of authors such as H.G. Wells, George Orwell, Robert Ludlum and others, highlighting how some of their premonitions have become a reality. A book sale and signing follow the program.
After almost three decades in broadcast news, Basnight became deeply immersed in fiction writing. His works include The Cop with the Pink Pistol, a modern NYC-detective mystery, and Shadows in the Fire, a Civil War historical novel about two young slaves on the edge of freedom as Richmond falls in April 1865.
