The Church in Ocean Park will celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr. with several events Jan. 18. First, Dr. David Horne will present a talk on "Martin Luther King: Where Do We Go From Here?" at 10:15 a.m.
Dr. Horne is the Acting Chair and Professor of African Studies at CSU Northridge. He is the author of "Straight To the Point: An Introduction to Critical Thinking, and Meeting Maat: The Handbook of African Consensus Meetings and Gatherings," as well as numerous scholarly and community-based articles, including a series of articles in Turning Point Magazine, one on Pan Africanism and the other on Reparations as well as the Decade of the Diaspora theme currently in vogue. Dr. Horne regularly presents both scholarly papers and speeches across the country and is currently writing a book entitled, "Organizing the African Diaspora."
Then from noon - 2 p.m. there will be an "Urban Dance Experience."
The high energy dance class is organized by Gail and Roger Franklin.
