Santa Monica’s Target is celebrating its official grand opening this Sunday, and store officials said they are excited to meet the surrounding community.
Located at 1610 Wilshire Boulevard, the store has already begun welcoming shoppers earlier this week while construction was still occurring out front. Word first spread about a new Target opening in the location back in January when the building’s previous occupant, Staples, announced it would be closing.
The Wilshire store opening comes on the heels of an application to open another Target store at 5th Street and Broadway, which would occupy one of the former Fred Segal buildings and is listed as approximately 24,000 square feet. The store would be located at 420 Broadway.
“We’re excited to start serving and getting to know our community,” said Marissa Steel, director of the Wilshire location.
