The American Red Cross of Santa Monica is hosting a free Pet Fair and Chip-a-thon Saturday, Aug. 1 at Clover Park to help pet owners register their cats and dogs with micro chipping.
The event, which will last from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., will also host a variety of other activities including low-cost vaccinations and dog training demonstrations. The day will culminate with a contest to determine the owner and pet who most resemble each other.
To assist with pet problems and provide advice, several animal experts, including Karen “Doc” Halligan and actress Elisabeth Rohm, will also be on hand. Nearly 22 booths will also be set up to give away free samples and information about a variety of pet care services.
Owners and pets are welcome to join in the event as long as the animals are in carriers or on leashes. Free parking is available near the park. Call Paul Weinberg with the City of Santa Monica at (310) 458-8686 for more information.
