Crime Watch is culled from reports provided by the Santa Monica Police Department. These are arrests only. All parties are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
On July 13 at 7 p.m.
Officers responded to Hollister on the 3rd Street Promenade for a report of someone stealing a bottle of fragrance. The suspect was still within the store and arrested without incident upon officers’ arrival. A private person’s arrest was signed by loss prevention personnel for the store and the suspect, Jason Ek was placed under arrest for petty theft. He was transported to the Santa Monica Jail where he was issued a citation and released.
