Crime Watch is culled from reports provided by the Santa Monica Police Department. These are arrests only. All parties are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
On July 14 at 8:30 A.M.
Officers responded to the rear of a multifamily location for a report of someone setting City trash containers on fire. The Santa Monica Fire Department also responded and extinguished the blaze. A reporting party alerted officers to the suspect, Charles Bennett, male 59 years old, who was observed looking into the container immediately before it catching fire. Bennett was found in possession of a lighter and placed under arrest.
