Crime Watch is culled from reports provided by the Santa Monica Police Department. These are arrests only. All parties are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
On June 25 at approximately 8:15 p.m.
Officers were flagged down and told of a fight occurring nearby. Officers located two males fighting near 9th and Wilshire Blvd. Officers observed the suspect holding what appeared to be knife while the victim was attempting to protect himself with a traffic cone. The suspect, later identified as 54-year-old Mehdi Mohammadi from Santa Monica, initially ignored the officer’s commands to stop fighting but eventually complied. Mohammadi was placed into handcuffs and arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. A knife was recovered at the scene.
