Santa Monica High School students staged a walk out on June 3 to protest for stricter gun control laws and show support for the families affected by the recent school shooting in Uvalde, Texas.
Students marched from campus to City Hall where they held a moment of silent to mourn the victims of gun violence in schools across the nation. They asked "how many more of us have to die before something changes?"
Protest leaders gave speeches imploring students to register to vote when eligible and back candidates who support gun control policies. Speakers encouraged students to continue to fight, protest and make their voices heard beyond Friday afternoon's walk out. They said if our leaders won't create change, we must become the leaders that will.
