Captain Eric Himler, released the following statement regarding an SMFD Technical Rescue in Palisades Park.
SANTA MONICA, CA – On Saturday January 11, 2020, at approximately 2:36 a.m. Santa Monica Firefighters responded to a report of a person who had fallen from the top of the Bluffs near Ocean and Wilshire. The Patient was located by SMFD units approximately 50 ft. up from PCH on the side of the bluffs. Emergency Medical care was administered by paramedics as a technical rescue was performed utilizing a combination of rope rescue equipment and the Aerial Ladder.
The rescue was successful, and the patient was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Santa Monica Police assisted with traffic control.
