To raise funds, spread awareness about the seriousness of eating disorders and support the local community, NEDA is holding its third annual Los Angeles NEDA Walk, themed NEDA Walk. Save a Life. Funds from the walk will be used to support NEDA's education and advocacy programs.
In the United States, 20 million women and 10 million men suffer from a clinically significant eating disorder at some time in their life, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, or an eating disorder not otherwise specified (EDNOS). Anorexia nervosa has the highest fatality rate of any mental illness.
The event will be Saturday, March 7, at 10 a.m. (registration/check-in begins at 9 a.m.) at Crescent Bay Park, 2000 Ocean Ave., just south of Santa Monica Pier.
To pre-register, visit www.nedawalk.org/losangeles2015 or call (212) 575-6200.
For more information, contact Julie Steinberg at jsteinberg@nationaleatingdisorders.org. The cost is $25 per adult, $15 per student, $10 per child under 12 and $5 per pet.
