Paul Conrad was known for making people mad with his cartoons. Mad at the jerks he was skewering, or mad at him for skewering someone else. Same thing with his "Chain Reaction" statue. If he were still around, maybe it would make him mad to read this. I think the sculpturerepresents victory. It is adepiction of the mushroom cloud that convinced the Japanese to surrender without the U.S. having to suffer hundreds of thousands of casualties by invading. Yes, the bombs killed many Japanese, but in case anybody forgot, there was a war on. General Sherman said "war is hell." And General Patton said "you don't win a war by dying for your country, you win a war by letting the other S.O.B. die for his country."
Keep that in mind if you think using the bombs was wrong.
