PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY — Police officers are asking for the public’s help in locating two suspects, one believed to be responsible for a series of vehicle burglaries while the other the driver in a hit-and-run accident on Broadway.
Between Aug. 19 and Aug. 20 several cars were broken into in the northern portion of Santa Monica. The suspect forcibly entered parked cars and removed miscellaneous items, SMPD Sgt. Jay Trisler said.
The suspect was identified as Amilcar Sanchez, 27, a Latin male standing 5-foot-6, around 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. No suspect vehicle was seen at the time of the burglaries.

The hit-and-run accident occurred on Aug. 12 at 6:40 p.m. in front of the Daily Press, located at 410 Broadway. The driver, a white female in her mid to late 30s with straight brown hair and seven to eight months pregnant, allegedly backed into and knocked over a legally parked motorcycle, causing significant damage. After the collision, the driver fled without identifying herself as required by law.
Her vehicle was described as a 2003 black Mercedes-Benz, California license plate number 6FWE999.
