SAMOHI — For the second straight year, Santa Monica High School’s girls’ soccer team is sending two players to NCAA Division universities.
Lidia Battaglia has committed to the University of Hawaii while Kristen Vasquez will attend University of San Francisco, Head Coach Jimmy Chapman said.
The pair are slated to sign their national letters of intent on Thursday.
The team is currently 10-1-3 overall and is 5-1 in Ocean League play.
The Vikings are scheduled to play today at Culver City. The game begins at 3 p.m.
Last year, Julia Glanz signed with the University of Arizona and Elizabeth Lyons now plays for Fresno State.
Pacifica Christian stays in top 10
Pacifica Christian’s boys’ basketball team is holding steady in the CIF-Southern Section Division 5A rankings, it was announced on Monday.
The No. 6 ranked Seawolves are 9-9 overall and more importantly 4-1 in Heritage League play. They are currently in second place behind 5-0 Milken.
The Seawolves took on Milken Tuesday night, but the result was not available at presstime.
Samohi girls alive for playoffs
After splitting a pair of Ocean League games last week the Samohi girls’ team is sitting at 4-2 in league as they prepare for first place Culver City.
Culver City enters tonight’s game at Samohi 6-0 overall.
Tonight’s game begins at 6 p.m. It will be followed by a boys game at 7:30 p.m.
