PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY — Santa Monica police on Thursday released the license plate number of a stolen classic car owned by actor John Travolta as investigators continue to search for the rare 1970 Mercedes 280 SL convertible.
The car, which was stolen on Sept. 18 on the 1400 block of Berkeley Street at 3:46 p.m., has the license plate number 3RBZ737 and is brown in color.
Travolta said that he parked the vehicle with the top down, but took the keys with him. After 10 minutes, the popular actor returned to find his car was missing. The classic car enthusiast was visiting a nearby Jaguar dealer.
The car is said to be valued at $35,000.
