Santa Monica’s Keelan Malone made it official: he’s heading to Villanova to play football.
The defensive end signed a letter of intent Tuesday, one of 14 players the reigning Division IAA champions signed on Tuesday. He has been offered a full athletic scholarship, said Villanova defensive line coach Bill Crocker, who recruited Malone.
“Physically, I liked his athleticism,” Crocker said. “He’s a pretty physical kid.”
Although Villanova has a number of defensive linemen on its roster, Crocker said there’s a chance that Malone could forgo being red shirted and work his way into playing time.
“He’s not the biggest guy in the world, but we were looking for a guy that can bring a little more speed,” Crocker said. “He looks like he can do that for us.”
Malone joins former Samohi Vikings Louis Adeyemi and Brennan Erbeznik on the roster.
