St. Monica’s girls’ volleyball team opens its season today against Buckley of Sherman Oaks at home.
The Mariners went 19-9 last season.
Samohi football fundraiser<p>
Samohi’s football team is hosting a spaghetti dinner on campus Wednesday.
The event will be held in the school’s cafeteria. The meal is available both dine-in and take-out. It is $8 per person. Proceeds go to support the program.
Samohi x-country completes meet<p>
Santa Monica High School’s boys and girls’ cross-country runners took part in the Seaside Invitational at San Buenaventura Beach on Friday.
The top five girls were: Amanda Botfeld (12); Emily Berkin (10); Alice Wasserman (10); Rachel Kirkhofer (9); Brooke Weiss (9).
The top 5 boys were: Andrew Capron (11); Arash Assar (110); Nick Salazar (12); Eric Gironda (10); Andrew Calderon (12).
Coaches had previously said that they would use these results to formulate the final varsity teams. Those announcements could come as soon as next week.
