Fresh off an Ocean League title, Santa Monica’s boys basketball team (20-6 overall, 10-0 in league) have earned the right to host a California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section Division 1A first round playoff game tonight at 7 p.m.
Quartz Hill, Samohi’s opponent, finished the season 5-21 overall and 4-10 in Golden League play. Samohi is the eighth seed in the division.
St. Monica at home for first round<p>
St. Monica’s boys basketball team will host a CIF-SS Division 4A first round playoff game tonight at 7 p.m. against Nipomo.
The Mariners finished 17-9 overall and 9-1 in Camino Real League play, good for a share of the league title with Pasadena’s La Salle. Nipomo (11-15 overall, 4-8 in league) is an at-large team from the Pac-7 League. St. Monica is the 11th seed in the division.
Crossroads hits the road<p>
Crossroads’ boys basketball team qualified for the CIF-SS Division 5AA playoffs as an at-large selection despite finishing the Olympic League portion of its schedule 1-9 (12-13 overall).
The Roadrunners will play Animo Leadership on the road tonight at 7 p.m. Animo finished the season as the second place team from the Harbor League.
Pacifica Christian earns at-large bid<p>
Pacifica Christian’s boys basketball team qualified for the CIF-SS Division 6AA playoffs as an at-large team from the Heritage League.
The Seawolves will play Marywood Palm Valley, the second place finisher from the Majestic League. Pacifica finished the season 9-15 overall and 3-7 in league.
