Santa Monica to resume weekly street cleaning. I think this is the least publicized event since the birth of Loretta Young's daughter.
I found out about this 15 minutes before I had to move my car. After the meter maids went through I saw a lot of cars with tickets on them, way more than usual. I think the city ought to forgive all the tickets given on this first week back to the old policy.
An internet friend showed me a city website from earlier in August that clearly showed street sweeping days in the first week of the month only. There was no indication of any street sweeping on August 30th and this conflicting information ought to invalidate any ticket issued today or tomorrow. As with rent increases, the city should be required to provide at least 30 days notice for a change in policy like this that affects so many people.
