We totally agree with the letter from Tony Blain concerning the closure of our iconic main post office ("Not a good move," Letters to the Editor, Aug. 5).
We have lived in Santa Monica for 41 years and feel this building is a local treasure. It is a historic building and other means of saving money rather than abandoning it could be found; just stopping Saturday mail, or reducing the 2006 mandate that prepays future postal worker retirees.
