Two Downtown Los Angeles stops on the Expo Line will be closed for two months starting Saturday.
Metro will close the 7th Street/Metro Center and Pico stations, so passengers traveling west from downtown must board at the LATTC/Ortho Institute Station. Service on the rest of the Expo Line will proceed as usual.
The Big Blue Bus (BBB) will operate a shuttle between the LATTC/Ortho Institute and 7th Street/Metro Center stations. They will run every 15 minutes on weekdays only, from 5 to 8 a.m. and 3 to 6:30 p.m. Metro will also deploy four shuttles to transport customers between the closed stations downtown. The 856 will stop at the LATTC/Ortho Institute, Pico and 7th Street/Metro Center stations. Other shuttles will transport riders between downtown and South Los Angeles.
Riders can also take BBB's Rapid 7 and Route 7 to Metro's Purple Line, which also terminates downtown, at the Wilshire/Western Station. For those who prefer not to transfer, the BBB's Rapid 10 line offers express service between Santa Monica and Downtown Los Angeles during weekday peak hours.
While the stations are closed, Metro will replace the track in Downtown Los Angeles that the Expo Line and Blue Line share. The Blue Line, which runs to Long Beach, has been undergoing a $350 million modernization project that began in January and will end this fall. The improvements will speed up service on the Blue Line by about 10 minutes and prevent backups on both routes.
