Sunday, Dec. 27, at 2:27 p.m.,
Santa Monica police officers responded to the 1600 block of Ocean Park Boulevard regarding a report of a fight in progress during which someone was stabbed. When officers arrived, they made contact with witnesses who said the suspect exited a market and walked over to a bus bench. The suspect allegedly approached the victim, a female, at the bench and stabbed her in the neck. The suspect fled and the victim went into the market. She received non-life threatening injuries, police said. Officers located the suspect a short distance away and placed him under arrest for assault with a deadly weapon. He was identified as Reginald Domingo, 34, a transient. His bail was set at $30,250.
Sunday, Dec. 27, at 5:14 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1300 block of Wilshire Boulevard — Vons — regarding an assault and battery. When officers arrived, they made contact with the alleged victim, a store employee, who said that he observed the suspect in the back of the store, which is for employees only. The employee asked the suspect to leave the location. The suspect allegedly challenged the victim to go outside. As the employee left the store with the suspect, he told the suspect he could not return or it would be trespassing. The suspect then allegedly struck the employee several times. The employee and the suspect then began to fight, with both ending up on the ground, police said. A passerby helped break up the fight. The suspect fled the scene but was located a short distance away by officers, who placed him under arrest for assault and battery. He was identified as Christopher Welsh, 40. His bail was set at $20,000.
Sunday, Dec. 27, at 5:45 p.m.,
Officers were on routine patrol in the 2300 block of Pico Boulevard when they observed three men that appeared to be dealing drugs. Officers made contact with the suspects and found one to be in possession of marijuana and a scale. The suspect were arrested for possession of marijuana for sale and conspiracy. During a booking search at the Santa Monica Jail, officers noticed that one of the suspects was attempting to conceal something in or around his butt. Officers searched the suspect and found $728 hidden in his crotch and buttocks area. The suspects were identified as Isiah Gunn, 22, of Los Angeles; Wendell Jefferson, 18, of Santa Monica; and Paul Rodriguez, 22, of Los Angeles. Gunn was booked for possession of marijuana for sale, conspiracy and a probation violation. He was not eligible for bail. Jefferson was booked for possession of marijuana for sale and conspiracy. His bail was set at $20,000. Rodriguez was booked for possession of marijuana for sales, conspiracy and a probation violation. He was not eligible for bail.
Monday, Dec. 28, at 11:08 p.m.,
Officers were patrolling the area of the 1300 block of Montana Avenue when they observed a bicyclist riding without a light in violation of the vehicle code. Further investigation revealed that the suspect was riding a bicycle that did not belong to him, police said. He also had warrants for his arrest. The suspect said he found the bicycle in front of Peet’s Coffee. The suspect, Roger Gamble, 55, a transient, was arrested for possession of stolen property and warrants. His bail was set at $21,182.
Wednesday, Dec. 30, at 7:33 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 300 block of Colorado Avenue — Sears — regarding a theft suspect in custody. When officers arrived, they made contact with store security who said that a suspect placed several items (watches and an MP3 player) in his pant pockets and left the store without paying for the items. Once outside the store, security confronted the suspect, who allegedly became combative. The suspect was taken into custody and booked for robbery and warrants. He was identified as Brian Karsten, 40, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $76,000.
Thursday, Dec. 31, at 12:35 a.m.,
Officers responded to the area of 12th Street and Marguerita Avenue regarding a suspect attempting to open the doors of parked cars. When officers arrived, they located the suspect in the 1200 block of Carlyle Avenue. Officers found the suspect to be in possession of numerous pieces of broken porcelain spark plugs, which can be used to shatter car windows. Officers arrested the suspect on suspicion of auto tampering, probable cause burglary and possession of burglary tools. He was identified as Angelo Ayala, 21. His bail was set at $20,000.
Thursday, Dec. 31, at 4:06 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 1500 block of Lincoln Boulevard (Bay Cities Deli) regarding a robbery that just occurred. When officers arrived, they made contact with deli employees who said that a customer walking around the store ate a piece of food. The customer then went to the checkout line and paid for some items. After paying, an employee asked the cashier if the customer paid for the food he was eating while in the store. The customer then allegedly placed his bags in the front of the checkout stand, went back into the store and placed some cheese in his pocket. He then grabbed his bags and left. Employees confronted the suspect, who gave back the cheese and attempted to walk away, police said. Employees tried to stop the man, who attempted to flee. He was detained by employees until officers arrived. They placed him under arrest for robbery. Additional food items were found. He was identified as David Trauberman, 53, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $50,000.
