PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY — Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man they believe rubbed up against the back and buttocks of a 10-year-old girl on Tuesday morning.
Police said the suspect followed two girls into the Pavilions market located at 800 Montana Avenue around 8 a.m. The girls went into the store after noticing him following them, said SMPD Sgt. Richard Lewis.
While in the checkout line, the man “rubbed” his body against one of the girls. When he was confronted, the suspect quickly left the store.
The suspect is described as an African-American male, 55 to 65 years old, 6 feet tall with a heavy build and having a gray afro-style haircut. The suspect also had an unkempt beard. His clothing at the time of the incident is described as a dark blue zippered sweatshirt with “UCLA” on the front, blue jeans, black shoes and a black baseball cap.
A photo of the suspect was not available.
