On December 22, 2019 at 5:30 p.m.
Officers responded to the Goodwill Store located at 524 Santa Monica Blvd. A male suspect had entered into the store and put on a shirt and blazer. The suspect began to walk around the store and put other clothing items into his shopping basket. The suspect then left the store without paying for the items. The security guard for Goodwill ran after the suspect and a struggle ensued. Another employee for the store came to the aid of the security officer and was able to recover the items in the shopping basket but not the ones the suspect was wearing. Officers arrived on scene and took custody of the suspect. Kevin Lee Rebong, 39, homeless, was arrested for shoplifting and a probation violation.
