Friday, April 15, at 7:20 a.m.,
Officers went to a home on the 3000 block of Main Street to check in on a registered sex offender. When officers arrived, they made contact with the resident and advised him that they were there to perform a compliance check. While there, officers said they found child pornography on the suspect’s computer. Officers placed him under arrest for possession of child porn. He was identified as Peter Albee, 68, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $40,000.
Sunday, April 17, at 11:04 a.m.,
Officers responded to the 1200 block of 18th Street regarding a suspect violating a restraining order. When officers arrived, they saw the suspect sleeping in the front of a parking lot located on the 1200 block of 18th. The suspect was ordered to keep at least 100 yards between him and the location. Officers said he was 18.61 yards from the location, a violation. The owner of the lot said the suspect was ordered to stay away after being evicted from an adjacent apartment building. Officers confirmed there was a valid restraining order and placed the suspect under arrest for contempt of a court order. He was identified as Gerald Sultan, 61, of Santa Monica. His bail was set at $5,000.
Saturday, April 16, at 9:46 p.m.,
Officers at the Second Street substation spoke with a woman who told them that she had just witnessed a bicycle theft and could identify the vehicle driven by the suspect. Based on the description of the vehicle, officers monitoring the broadcast recognized it from previous bicycle thefts. Officers went to a home in Los Angeles where the vehicle was registered. At the location, officers found a bicycle believed to have been stolen in Santa Monica. Officers said they also found items belonging to someone living in Beverly Hills. Officers found bolt cutters inside of the suspect vehicle and arrested two people at the scene. They were identified as Jose Perez, 31, of Inglewood, and Carolina Roman, 21, of Santa Monica. They were booked for grand theft, conspiracy, receiving stolen property and possession of burglary tools. Bail was set at $20,000.
Saturday, April 16, at 5:11 p.m.,
Officers responded to the Georgian Hotel regarding a report of someone trying to get out of paying their bill. When officers arrived, they made contact with hotel staff who said that the suspect tried to pay for a room with a credit card that was declined. Staff forced her to pack up her things and leave the hotel. While waiting, the staff handed the suspect a bill for $778.82. The suspect told staff that she did not have another credit card nor cash. Staff detained her until police arrived. The suspect was booked for defrauding an innkeeper. She was identified as Linda Sequeira, 41, of Temecula, Calif. Her bail was set at $500.
Saturday, April 16, at 9:14 a.m.,
A community service officer found a backpack in a women’s restroom in Parking Structure 1 in Downtown. Officers responded and searched the pack and said they found cocaine and drug paraphernalia inside. As officers walked back to their vehicle to take the pack to the police station, the owner walked up and said the “stuff” in the pack belonged to her niece. Officers arrested her for possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia. She was identified as Marcia Woodall, 55, of Inglewood. Her bail was set at $10,000.
Friday, April 15, at 12:50 p.m.,
Officers responded to the 700 block of San Vicente Boulevard regarding a traffic accident. When officers arrived, they made contact with one of the people involved who said they saw the other driver place something behind a tree. She went to investigate and told officers she found a baggy containing hypodermic needles and a metal spoon. The second driver went back to the tree, grabbed the items and put them back in her car. Officers found the baggy and asked the suspect if they belonged to her. She allegedly said yes and she was placed under arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic needles and a probation violation. Officers said the baggy contained not only needles and a spoon, but also rubber gloves, a tin cap, Band-Aids and antibiotic cream. Officers said these items are commonly used to shoot heroin. The suspect was identified as Sabrina Bernstein, 34, of Los Angeles. Her bail was set at $10,000.
Thursday, April 14, at 11:18 p.m.,
Officers responded to the LAPD’s 77th Division station regarding a suspect arrested for a warrant issued by the SMPD. The warrant was for false imprisonment. Officers took the suspect into custody. She was identified as Renee Flowers, 47, a transient. She was not eligible for bail.
Wednesday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m.,
Officers responded to the Rite-Aid located on the 1300 block of Wilshire Boulevard regarding shoplifters in custody. When officers arrived, they made contact with store security who said that the suspects entered the business, went to two different aisles and removed items. The suspects placed the items in two bags they were carrying and left the store without paying, police said. Security detained them outside the store and recovered gum and candy bars valued at $110.29. The suspects were booked for burglary. They were identified as Glenn Martin, 37, and Michael Neal, 29; both of Los Angeles. Their bail was set at $20,000.
