Saint Anne School, a local Catholic school, has been selected for the 2009 Best of Santa Monica Award in the Religious Schools category by the U.S. Commerce Association (USCA).
The award, given annually to small businesses throughout the country, recognizes companies that have achieved exceptional success, while maintaining a high quality of service to their customers and communities.
Saint Anne School, founded in 1908, serves students from kindergarten to eighth grade. The school was recognized in particular for its outstanding enrichment programs in science and music.
The school has partnered with the UCLA School of Engineering in order to provide middle school students with microbiology lessons, including the opportunity to analyze samples from Santa Monica’s beaches and provide their findings to UCLA graduate students and the Santa Monica City Council. Online tutoring in math and science is also available to students through this partnership.
Every Saint Anne student receives weekly instruction in instrumental music and music appreciation. The program is staffed by faculty from Crossroads School for the Arts, as well as music educators from the Westside Music Foundation and the Music Teacher’s Association of California.
