PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY — Police have arrested a suspect in an alleged strong-arm robbery that took place July 24 in the 200 block of Georgina Avenue.
The suspect, Gregory Lamont Archie, 28, allegedly approached a female victim as she was preparing to go jogging and asked for directions. During the conversation, the suspect allegedly struck the victim in the face and took her purse. When the victim fell to the ground, the suspect fled from the location in a vehicle, police said in release.
Further investigation by Santa Monica Police Department detectives led them to identify the suspect and the location of his residence in Hawthorne.
Later in the day on July 24, detectives recovered some of the victim’s belongings inside of the suspect’s residence, according to a SMPD press release. Officers also located a white powdery substance resembling cocaine and also found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the suspect’s possession, the release said.
Archie was arrested on suspicion of robbery, possession of marijuana, possession of narcotic paraphernalia and parole violation.
He was arraigned on Tuesday and is not eligible for bail, police said.
