Those looking to contact the police department can still dial 911, but for about 30 minutes today, the non-emergency number to the SMPD’s Communications Center will be unavailable, police said.
The number, (310) 458-8491, will be disconnected from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. while the telephone system undergoes maintenance. During this time, the public may call the Public Safety Facility front desk at (310) 458-8495 for all non-emergency calls.
The 911 system will not be affected by the maintenance and the public should dial that number to report any emergencies.
