The topic of Santa Monica’s present and future will bring the city’s leaders together on Thursday. This year’s annual State of the City event, beginning at 5 p.m. at the John Adams Middle School Performing Arts Center, will include speeches from Santa Monica Mayor Phil Brock, City Manager David White and Vice Mayor Lana Negrete.
A light reception will also be a part of the two-hour event. With a theme of "Leaping toward a thriving 150th," this will be the first State of the City with Brock in the Mayor position. City Manager White will be making his third speech, and in his second speech last year, highlighted several 2022 accomplishments.
White pointed to the reopening of public facilities and the digging into "challenging topics like homelessness and housing" as 2022 Santa Monica highlights. Alongside homelessness and housing, White touched on topics like crime and rebuilding the local economy, which will likely also be on the agenda Thursday.
