A 58-year-old man accused of possessing a cache of assault weapons at his Bel-Air home has been charged with 64 felony counts, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced today.
Girard Damian Saenz (dob 6/9/61) is charged with 23 counts of possession of an assault weapon, 17 counts of transfer of handgun with no licensed firearms dealer, 15 counts of unlawful assault weapon/.50 BMG rifle activity, seven counts of possession of a short-barreled rifle or shotgun, and two counts of possession of a destructive device.
Saenz pleaded not guilty today at an arraignment hearing at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Airport Branch. Case SA100880 was filed on July 12.
The alleged offenses occurred between January 2016 and May 2019, according to the charging document.
Bail for Saenz was set at $100,000. If convicted as charged, Saenz faces a maximum sentence of 48 years, eight months in state prison.
The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
